Breast surgery in Alicante
Balancing differences in size, shape or height between the breasts with the technique each one needs: an implant, a reduction, a lift or a combination of these. The aim is more balanced breasts, bearing in mind that two breasts are never identical.

The technique
It is normal for breasts not to be exactly the same. We talk about breast asymmetry when the difference in size, shape, height or areola is obvious and bothers you, for example when choosing a bra or swimwear.
Correction is not a single technique. Depending on what each breast needs, the options that can be combined include implants of different sizes (or an implant on one side only), a reduction of the larger breast, a lift (mastopexy) of the one that sags more, or reshaping of the breast tissue. For small differences, your own fat can sometimes be used.
The aim is to match the volume, shape and position of both breasts as closely as possible, in proportion with your body.
The difference can be greatly reduced, but two identical breasts cannot be achieved. A small residual asymmetry is normal and part of a realistic result.
Suitability
In teenagers it is best to wait until the breasts have finished developing, because the difference may change. If the asymmetry is small and does not bother you, surgery may not be necessary.
If only one breast has changed in size recently, the first step is to have it checked by your doctor or gynaecologist, before thinking about cosmetic surgery.
Before you decide
Every asymmetry is different, and each breast almost always needs something different. At your first consultation, Dr Navarro sees you personally and takes the time to understand what bothers you and what you would like to achieve.
01
Which difference bothers you most (size, shape, height or areola) and whether you would like more volume, less or the same.
02
Examination of both breasts, side-by-side measurements and assessment of the skin, the breast tissue and the position of the areolas.
03
What each side needs (an implant, a reduction or a lift) and what recovery will involve.
04
You take the proposal home in writing, together with the quote and the risks. You can raise any questions before you decide.
On the day of surgery
Beforehand
Pre-operative tests and an assessment by the anaesthetist. Before surgery, with you standing, Dr Navarro marks the reference points on both breasts.
Each side
Under general anaesthesia, the planned procedure is carried out on each breast: placing an implant, reducing, lifting or reshaping. Each side is often operated on differently.
Checking
Before closing, the shape and volume of both breasts are compared to fine-tune the result.
To finish
The incisions are closed with fine sutures and a dressing is applied, which is later replaced with a post-surgical bra.
Afterwards
Days 1 to 3
Discomfort and swelling, which are controlled with the prescribed medication. How intense they are depends on the technique used on each side.
Around 48 hours
The dressing is replaced with a non-wired bra, which you will wear for about a month.
Weeks 1 to 3
A follow-up appointment with Dr Navarro. When you can return to work depends on the technique: sooner if only an implant is placed, and a little later if there is a reduction or a lift.
Weeks 4 to 6
You gradually return to exercise, as Dr Navarro advises.
3 to 12 months
The breasts settle and the swelling disappears completely. The scars continue to mature during the first year.
Important information
Like any surgery, correcting breast asymmetry carries risks. Most are uncommon, but it is important to understand them before you decide:
There are also the risks associated with anaesthesia. Dr Navarro will go through them with you at your consultation, and they will be set out in the informed consent form.
Common questions
Yes, it is very common and almost always a normal variation. Surgery is only considered when the difference is obvious and bothers you.
It depends. Sometimes treating one side is enough, but both are often operated on with different techniques to achieve a more balanced result.
No. The aim is to reduce the difference clearly, but two breasts are never identical and a small asymmetry is normal.
Yes. This is one of the most common ways to correct a difference in volume, and it can be combined with a lift or a reduction on the other side.
It is a developmental condition in which the breast has a narrow base, a high fold and a large or puffy areola. It can affect one or both breasts and is corrected with specific techniques.
Once the breasts have finished developing, usually from the age of 18, and always after an individual assessment.
It depends on the techniques each breast needs. You will receive a personalised quote after your first consultation.
